Let Not The Life Be Wasted

O, Krishna!

One is helpless if bound by hands and feet

Unless helped by a person unbound

But the one who remembers Thy lotus feet

Is at once freed from all karmic bounds.

Thou order such release by Thy causeless mercy.

Otherwise, one’s deliverance is not very easy.

Thou are the liberator of every surrendered soul.

As Thou are the life, body, and senses of all.

Surrendering unto Thy lotus feet, my Lord,

Is the only means to escape the material mould(s)

Only by understanding Thee, freedom is possible.

Without Thy mercy, everything is impossible

As the root maintains the whole tree,

Thou maintain the lives of all things that be.

Thou are the source, Thou are the root.

Alas! many do forget this eternal truth!

The one who knows Thee is in liberation

The one who knows not Thee is in illusion.

Ignorance of Thee is an eternal bondage,

Entailing births and deaths, age after age.

Five thousand years ago, Thou walked on this earth

And displayed pastimes without any dearth.

Whosoever says Krishna is a myth

Is only caught in repeated births and deaths.

Thou and Thy image are one and the same.

There’s no difference between Thou and Thy name.

The power of thy names is hardly ever shaken.

That’s the position Srila Prabhupada has taken.

Our duration of life is not very long.

We’re not sure when we will be gone.

Let the life not be wasted in mundane gossips,

But dedicated to Krishna in reverential worships.
